Course Prerequisites:

Valid FREC 3 Cert

Hold a valid FREC 3 Certificate (In date) and demonstrate skills to FREC 3 Scope of Practice

Continual Professional Development Portfolio

Each Candidate must hold a valid, CPD portfolio containing 118 hours of relevant and authentic standard Medical CPD evidenced.

Minimum Age

Each candidate must be 18 years old by the first day of the course starting

Who is it for?

This qualification is designed for individuals who have specific responsibilities in their workplace or within voluntary and community settings to provide prehospital emergency and urgent medical care. It is particularly suitable for those aiming to advance their careers within NHS or private ambulance services as an Emergency Care Assistant, Intermediate Ambulance Practitioner, Event Medical Provider, Associate Practitioner, or Healthcare Assistant. It also supports specialist medical roles within military, police, and fire services.

  • How long does it take to qualify?
    This qualification contains 1 mandatory unit (split into 3 components) with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 180 hours. Learners must complete all assessments successfully within the registration period to achieve the qualification. The maximum period to achieve this qualification, including any referrals is 12 months. TQT is the total number of hours required for a Learner to achieve this qualification. It has 2 elements: • Guided Learning Hours (GLH) is the time a Learner is being taught and assessed under the immediate guidance of a Trainer/Assessor, which for this qualification is 39 GLH (minimum), and • The number of hours a Learner will reasonably be likely to spend in preparation and study, including assessment, as directed by, but not under the immediate guidance or supervision of a Trainer, e.g. pre-course reading, research, assignment completion, mentored practice/work experience, etc. which for this qualification is 141 hours
  • When will courses be running?
    We plan to be launching the FREC 4 courses late 2025. Our Paramedic instructor team are putting the building blocks together to give you the best learning experience. We will release course dates as soon as we have them set.
  • What assessments are there?
    Practical assessments/skills tests – observed by the Trainer throughout the course, with the results of each learning outcome recorded on the practical assessment paperwork. There are 2 practical assessments and 3 skills tests for this qualification: • Immediate Life Support (Adult) practical assessment • Assessment and treatment of trauma practical assessment • Physiological observations skills test • Assisting with clinical interventions skills test • Immobilisation and extrication equipment skills test Assignments – 3 workbooks (1 per component) to be completed throughout the programme (off course)
  • How can I book?

  • Is funding available?
    Some learners may be eligible for funding through employers or external schemes. Rescue Med / Adamantine Global can provide an invoice or letter of enrolment if needed for reimbursement or application purposes.
