Service Description
Who the Course Is For: Designed for anyone who may be appointed as a workplace Emergency First Aider, this qualification is ideal for low-risk environments such as offices, retail, leisure, education, and community organisations across Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian. It is also suitable for volunteers or self-employed professionals wanting a recognised first aid certificate. What You’ll Learn: Through expert instruction, demonstrations and hands-on scenarios led by experienced Paramedic trainers, learners will gain the knowledge and practical competence to manage a range of real-world incidents. By the end of the day you will be able to: Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider, including infection control and incident reporting Conduct scene and casualty assessments using the primary survey (DR ABC) Perform CPR and safe use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Provide first aid to an unconscious casualty and place them in the recovery position Manage choking, shock, bleeding and minor injuries (Optional) Demonstrate the control of catastrophic bleeding using tourniquets and wound-packing Course Format & Assessment: The course combines engaging classroom teaching with realistic practical exercises. We aim to only fill up to 6 spaces per course this allows us to provide bespoke learner centred teaching. Assessment is continuous throughout the day and includes: 4 practical assessments (CPR & AED, choking, unconscious casualty, bleeding & shock) 1 multiple-choice question paper (15 questions; pass mark = 11) Upon successful completion, learners receive the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) certificate, valid for 3 years. Annual refresher training is recommended to maintain confidence and compliance. Cancellation Policy
At Rescue Med, we understand that plans can change, and we aim to be as fair and transparent as possible while ensuring the smooth running of our courses. Cancellations 1 month or more before the course start date – full refund. Between 2–4 weeks before the course start date – 50% refund. Between 1–2 weeks before the course start date – 25% refund. Within 7 days of the course start date – no refund will be issued. Non-attendance (“no-shows”) – no refund. Refunds apply to course fees only. Any additional costs (e.g. travel, accommodation) remain the responsibility of the learner. Rescheduling Requests to reschedule made within 2 weeks of the course start date will incur a £150 administration fee. Learners must attend the full duration of the course to meet assessment and accreditation requirements. Provider Cancellations Rescue Med reserves the right to postpone or reschedule courses in order to meet operational or business needs. In the event of force majeure (e.g. severe weather, instructor illness, unforeseen incidents), Rescue Med will make every effort to accommodate affected learners. Where Rescue Med cancels or reschedules a course, no additional fees will be charged, and learners will be offered either a full refund or transfer to an alternative course date.
